
Nestled in a naturally formed amphitheatre between the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain ranges, Keermont is a boutique, family-owned estate with a strong sense of place. Purchased by the Wraith family in 2003, the estate has expanded under the guidance of winemaker Alex Starey, who joined early in the redevelopment process. Keermont’s vineyards rise between 250 and 400 metres above sea level, sitting on deep red loam soils with quartzitic sandstone, and are interspersed with indigenous fynbos and renosterveld. All wines are grown, produced and bottled on the estate, with a philosophy leaning toward natural winemaking: spontaneous fermentations, minimal intervention, little or no filtration, and respect for terroir. The varietal range includes Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and classic Rhône and Bordeaux reds, often released as both estate and single-vineyard selections.
